The Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN) invites original submissions for consideration of awards for scientific presentation during the 18th Asia Oceanian Congress of Neurology and 29th Annual Conference of the Indian Academy of Neurology (AOCN - IANCON 2022) to be held at New Delhi from 2nd to 6th November 2022. Papers can be submitted under various categories, as detailed hereunder:

1. All abstracts for AOCN ? IANCON 2022 should be submitted only through the IAN website https://www.ianindia.org/abstract/abstract_login_register.php
2. No submissions by email OR physical submission will be considered
3. Abstracts should be submitted in ENGLISH language only
4. Last date for submission of Abstracts is 30th April 2022

Award Papers

1. The presenting author should be an Indian National of age < 45 years.
2. The presenting author should be a member of the IAN OR should have applied for membership to the IAN at the time of submission of written paper/abstract for Categories 1 ? 8 OR should have completed / be undergoing a Research Degree (e.g., PhD, M.Sc, MPhill) in an area of Neuroscience with thrust on Laboratory Research. The areas may include but are not restricted to Neurosciences / Neurogenetics / Experimental Neuropsychology / Neurophysiology / Neuroanatomy / Computational Neuroscience.
3. The presenting author should submit the full text of the article, including cover letter, tables, figures, and supplementary data if any.
4. The presenting author should register for the AOCN- IANCON 2022
5. The work should have been carried out in India.
6. If selected for the final evaluation, the author will have to present the paper/poster at the AOCN- IANCON 2022.
7. The paper will be evaluated by anonymous judges on the merit of the content, the presentation at the conference and the way the presenter responds to the queries from the audience.
8. The decision of the judges shall be final and binding and no further evaluation will be entertained.
9. The details of how to prepare your paper are given below.

Articles submitted for Awards should have the following sections:

2. Body of article (do not include any marks that would reveal the identity of the author on the file name or in its contents)

3. Tables, with legend, (separate files) as .jpg, .jpeg, .png
4. Figures, with legend, (separate files) as .jpg, .jpeg, .png

6. Declaration of conflict of interest

The articles can have up to 4000 words, five tables and three figures.

References should be limited to less than thirty.

Tables and figures should be mentioned in the main text and uploaded separately. It is ideal to give the same name to the uploaded files of figures and tables, as mentioned in the main text. Eg. Table 1, Figure 3 etc.

The Title

1. The title of the article.
2. Concise titles are easier to read than long, convoluted ones.
3. A running head no more than 40 words.

Authors

1. Presenting Authors’ name (First, Middle and Last Name) and institutional affiliations.
2. Each author’s highest academic degree can be mentioned after the name.
3. The name of the department(s) and institution(s) to which the work should be attributed.
4. Disclaimers, if any.
5. Presenting author. The name, mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address of the presenting author responsible for correspondence about the manuscript are required.
6. Source(s) of support in the form of grants, equipment, drugs, or all of these.

Body of the article

The text of observational and experimental articles should be divided into sections with the headings

• Background & Aims
• Material & Method / Methodology
• Results
• Discussion / Conclusion

Material and methods

The material and methods section should be written very carefully. It should reflect the authenticity of the work that formed the foundation of the manuscript. The details of the study, period of study, whether it was prospective or retrospective, should be mentioned. The source of the subjects, departments, inpatient service or outpatient service that contributed the subjects, source of pathological samples, if drawn from archives etc need to be clearly mentioned. A responsible person from these departments could be one of the authors or they should be acknowledged appropriately. The laboratory methods, source of specific reagents if applicable (for eg. Immunohisto chemical studies) should be provided. The authors should clearly state whether informed consent was taken for each subject, and approval of the Institutional Ethics committee was available. Kindly mention who had carried out the statistical analysis.

References

The Uniform Requirements style is based largely on an ANSI standard style adapted by the National Library of Medicine(NLM) for its databases. For samples of reference citation formats, authors should consult National Library of Medicine web site. References (print as well as electronic only ) should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text. Identify references in text, tables, and legends by Arabic numerals in parentheses. References cited only in tables or figure legends should be numbered in accordance with the sequence established by the first identification in the text of the particular table or figure. The titles of journals should be abbreviated according to the style used in Index Medicus. Consult the list of Journals Indexed for MEDLINE, published annually as a separate publication by the National Library of Medicine. The list can also be obtained through the Library's web site.

Tables

Type each table with double spacing. Number tables consecutively in the order of their first citation in the text and supply a brief title for each. Do not use internal horizontal or vertical lines. Give each column a short or abbreviated heading. Authors should place explanatory matter in footnotes, not in the heading. Explain in footnotes all nonstandard abbreviations. For footnotes use the following symbols, in sequence: *,†,‡,§,||,¶,**,††,‡‡ Identify statistical measures of variations, such as standard deviation and standard error of the mean. Be sure that each table is cited in the text. Do not duplicate data in the table and text.

Illustrations (Figures)

Figures should be either professionally drawn and photographed, or submitted as photographic quality digital files. (e.g. .jpeg, .jpg or .png) Authors should review the images of such files on a computer screen before submitting them, to be sure they meet their own quality standard. The width of image should be 7.5 cm. Resolution 300 dots per inch, Image should be saved in grey scale unless it is a color image. The image should be cropped to eliminate all unwanted area. No lettering or numbers that reveal the source of the image should be visible on the finished image. Letters, numbers, and symbols on Figures should be clear and even throughout, and of sufficient size that when reduced for publication each item will still be legible. Figures should be made as self-explanatory as possible. Titles and detailed explanations belong in the legends, however, not on the illustrations themselves. Photomicrographs, EEG and EMG traces should have internal scale markers. Symbols, arrows, or letters used in photomicrographs should contrast with the background.. If photographs of people are used, either the subjects must not be identifiable or their pictures must be accompanied by written permission to use the photograph. Whenever possible permission for publication should be obtained. Figures should be numbered consecutively according to the order in which they have been first cited in the text.

Legends for Illustrations (Figures)

Type or print out legends for illustrations using double spacing, starting on a separate page, with Arabic numerals corresponding to the illustrations. When symbols, arrows, numbers, or letters are used to identify parts of the illustrations, identify and explain each one clearly in the legend. Explain the internal scale and identify the method of staining in photomicrographs.
